My name is Julie A. Bolduc. I am the owner of Just Plain Fun. My husband Paul helps me out when ever he can with all sorts of things that need to be done.
Just Plain Fun started out at my kitchen table in January 1997, and within 4 months it grew to the point we were able to put this web site together. It started out as a business to make and sell beads made out of paper. The beads were unique in that they are made from copy paper which has been printed with clipart on my computer. They look like porcelain beads that have pictures on them.
Just Plain Fun is a DBA co owned by Paul R and Julie A Bolduc located in a private home in Stratton Maine.
Just Plain Fun was established in January 1997 as a Paper Bead Making business and switched to crochet pattern designs in February 1998. In 1999 the domain name of jpfun.com was registered with Network Solutions and in 2005, paperbeadcrafts.com was also registered at Network solutions.
Then in 2005, paper bead making was added back into the business with the launch of paperbeadcrafts.com.

Well I did a lot of soul searching and decided it was time to give up on the beads and work on the item I love the most. Crochet. I have completely taken the beads off the website and changed my focus to crochet. I do know there are alot more people interested in Obtaining knowledge and patterns related to crochet. So here it is Crochet Crochet and more Crochet. Have fun all you crochet addicts out there!

Well Since February I have published the first issue of the Just Plain Fun Crochet Newsletter and I must say the response I have received has been nothing short of amazing. I really want to take this time to thank some very special people for their encouragement and motivating chats we have had. They are Diana McDonald and Julie Morash. Thank you so much for your time and encouraging words. I do not know if I would have committed myself to such a large endeavor without your input. You deserve a big round of applause and some ((((Big Hugs!)))).

Today is Sunday, December 13, 1998 and the Just Plain Fun Crochet Newsletter site has changed alot! It is no longer a newsletter but the JPF Crochet Club with it's own web site. To date there are over 100 patterns all designed by me along with a few more things that have been added since the beginning such as screen savers and crochet related clipart. The site is now a club called JPF Crochet Club. For more information about it you can Click Here.

Today is Tuesday, February 16, 1999 and the JPF Crochet Club is growing! There are now 120 paid members. Also while writing this entry, I am waiting for word fro Internic on the status of our new Virtual Domain Name of www.jpfun.com. I have moved all of the JPF files to a new server where I have unlimited space. This is a big move because it means taking all of the files down from the server I have been using since I first made my presence on the internet 2 years ago. I hope this new server will be the permanent home for years to come.

Well I am moving the site once again. I found a less expensive server to put the site on and is also offers more features than the one that the site was on before. Also it is located on a server that is geographically closer to where I am. On the East Coast instead of the West Coast. I feel this will be the final move and that I will be here permanantly.

Alot has happened since I last added anything to this page. The biggest thing is my husband and I built a new house in 2002 on the same property we have been living on since 1987. We had been living in a small 2 bedroom mobile home which we turned into a 3 bedroom one by cutting out living room in half so we could have my step son live with us. We finally were financially able to get a bigger house. So we built the foundation and put a double wide mobile home on it. It really looks more like a house. Someday I may post pictures.
As of today there are 588 patterns on the site with more being added almost every week. Right now at this time of writing, I am still recovering from a sprained ankle and working full time outside the home so the addition of the patterns is slowing down for now. It will pick up again as soon as I am completely healed and I get back into a regular routine at work. Right now I am working four 10 hour days a week and soon we will be going to a five 8 hour day week. When that happens, I will be able to work on patterns and post them after work since I wont be as tired.

As of today, there are 748 patterns on the site and I do keep adding more and more as I can. I have also started to convert all of the patterns to PDF format for easier downloading and printing. I have also self published a CD of 600 of the patterns on the site which has had a good following!
I have also started a new web site dedicated to the art of making beads out of paper. Instead of trying to make the beads and selling them, the site focuses on offering instructions on how to make them yourself. It includes a special program, which I wrote, to make the special bead sheets needed to make these special clipart paper beads. If you are interested in seeing the site and the beads, please go here.
I am still working outside the home at the local major ski resort as a telesales agent, booking reservations for the ski resort. I plan to stay there as long as I have to in order to pay my bills and basically run my household.

As of today there are 856 patterns on the site and I still add more as I am able to. I am no longer allowed to crochet at work so I crochet at night in front of either my computer watching Netflix or while watching TV. I am also still working on the Paper Bead Crafts web site as I am able to. I am continually trying to make the site as fun and entertaining as I can for my visitors and members and one way I have done that is to add games that let everyone who has a point account earn points.

I Left My Job!
Well as of October 8, 2012, I no longer work outside the home so I am able to devote all of my time to my 2 passions, well besides my family that is, my 2 web sites, the JPF Crochet Club and Paper Bead Crafts.com. Yes I am working on Paper Beads again. I have had Paper Bead Crafts running since August 12, 2005.
eBooks for Kindle Fire
I am still working on the JPF Crochet Club as well and now we have over 900 crochet patterns on the site. I have also started compiling the patterns into books for the Kindle Fire. As of this date I have 9 books for the Kindle Fire published on Amazon.com. You can get to them by going to Amazon.com and doing a Search for JPF Crochet. All of them will be listed.
Paper Bead Crafts
I am now selling hand made paper Bead Rollers on my paper bead crafts web site as well as on Etsy and Amazon.com. You can read all about them and order yours: Here.
I have also started to add Videos to both sites. They are also on YouTube. The first one I did was how to use the paper bead rollers I make. I now have 4 videos with plans to make several more over the coming months and years. I am alternating the subject of the videos, one crochet site related, then one paper bead crafts related video. The next video I make as of the time of typing this will be a crochet stitch related video.
Craft Room Update
I am working on updating the Craft Room photos since I have made some minor changes since I posted the photos that are there. Once I do that though, it will be time to add more photos again since we are about to make a major change to my craft room within the month. I am adding an order packing station and Merchandise storage area for the items I sell on my two web sites. The wood rings, paper beads, paper bead rollers, crochet stitch markers and soon paper bead jewelry. Right now I have all that stuff scattered through out my office and craft room and I need to put them all in one place.
The section we are adding is very small however, if you have visited my craft room pages, you may know there is a small section that was not included in the original room in order to make room for my pantry and freezer, well I am reclaiming that space and the pantry and freezer are moving to another part of the basement. The door is going to be moved to a new wall that will be framed and I will then have a new open area after the door opening is freshly framed out. As you can see, I am super excited about this new change.
The size of the new packaging section will be the 3' x 6' section that was left out initially. One wall is 3' wide, the other wall is and 5'8". There will be a 5'7" work bench on that wall. We will be adding storage shelves will be on the 3' wall so I will have a storage wall that is 3'w x 7'h and 8" deep. It sounds small but I know it will work for now. I have enough room between the counter and shelves to move around and work. I will post pictures when it is complete! I promise!

Last month, in February, marked the 19th year of publishing crochet patterns on the internet for me. The website is now completely free for everyone as I am no longer designing crochet patterns for the site since my other web site, http://www.paperbeadcrafts.com is taking up most of my time. It is also generating most of my online income so my focus is on my paper bead part of my business. I feel I have come full circle. I first signed up for internet access in January 1997 with the hopes of generating an income from paper bead making. Paper Beads is where I started my online income generating journey. It is now where I want to continue my online income generating journey. It is now 20 years later and the paper bead part of my business is where I really want to be into my senior years. I have turned 50 and even though I am not yet a senior, I consider myself partially retired since I no longer have to work for someone else. My plans for the crochet web site for the future are to evenutally take down most of the patterns and publish them in softcover books and for the Kindle Fire. I will keep some free patterns on the site along with the pictures of the patterns that will be in the books. Who knows, perhaps I will design more patterns in the future but for now, designing is not in my plans for the next few months at least.

It has been over 21 years since I started my business in January of 1997. My business has seen a lot of changes since then but this change, that I am making now, is the biggest one yet for my web site. I am moving my 2 websites to a new server and combining them into one large website called Just Plain Fun which is actually the name of my DBA business. Both the JPF Crochet Club and Paper Bead Crafts are combining to become one big website. I also have plans to add another section to my website dedicated to quilting and sewing projects. I have been hard coding my web sites by hand since the beginning and this year I decided to switch to using Joomla, a content management system to try to make my website updates easier. What a major learning curve! I am glad I am able to use my coding skills with Joomla but now it should be easier to keep the site updated.
About paid memberships: I am going to be adding paid memberships back to the site and the members of Paper Bead Crafts will already be paid members of this site but now instead of having access to only the paper bead related stuff, they will have access to all of the digital items on the site. If they are a bronze member, they will have to upgrade to have access to the whole site, they will have access to the Bead Sheet Generator Pro once they have upgraded, if they are a silver member, they will have access to the Bead Sheet Generator Pro and all of the files related to paper beads and crochet and future sewing patterns on the site. If they were a gold member, they will continue to have access to what they have now and also all of the crochet patterns and quilt projects I add in the future.
About the Paper Bead Crafts Seciton: I am adding bead sheets, paper bead cutting templates, paper bead jewelry projects and other paper bead projects when I can.
About the Quilting and Sewing: I have known how to sew since the age of 7 years, back in 1973 when I started to sew fashion doll clothes by hand. At the age of 11, I started using my mother's sewing machine. Through my childhood and teen years, I made doll clothes, my own clothes, pillows a quilt top and other small sewn items. When I reached adult hood, I started making children's clothes for my own children and dabbled more in quilt making. I completed a couple of small quilts and started on 2 large quilts that were put away back in 1997 when I started this business. I still have them and I am starting them over and plan to post videos about them sometime in 2019 or 2020. So we will see what happens with regarding the sewing and quilting part of the site.
