This potholder is made in 2 parts, the front and the back. They are made exactly the same then stitched together with the basic sc around the edge. It can also be made in to a hot pad or trivet by just inserting an old CD just before closing up the edges.

In the next round, Each of the 3 hdc groups will be referred to as a 3hdc shell. You will be working the sc stitches bet the first & second and second & third hdc of each shell.
RND 6: Join color 2 in first space of first 3hdc shell. Ch1. Sc in 2nd sp of same shell. Dc in each of the next skipped sts behind ch2 sp. *Sc in each the 1st and 2nd sps of the next shell. Now take both the pieces, put them wrong sides facing each other, then join w/color 1 in any stitch, in the lps that are lined up together. You will work in only two lps, not all 4. Just the inside lps. Work 1 sc in each st around to join the front to the back. If you are using a CD to make a trivet, insert the trivet before closing completely. Fasten off, weave ends in to work.
